Inspired by a national public awareness project, Silent Witness Virginia seeks to raise awareness of domestic violence and create opportunities for healing through a visual memorial to lives lost. Virginians who have lost loved ones to domestic violence homicide are invited to submit their stories and life-sized plywood silhouettes are created as memorials to these victims. The Silent Witness display travels throughout the state, raising awareness in local communities. Over 30 women, children, and men are memorialized in the Silent Witness Virginia collection, and the project continues to grow. Posters, buttons, and brochures have been created to help with publicity.
